The Author
Christine Burton is an American author who was born in the U.S. state of Wisconsin to Polish-German descent parents, she presently resides in Harvest, a small community town close to the Alabama-Tennessee state line. Christine has had an illustrious career, she holds a degree in Business Management, Paralegal and to that a doctorate in Naturopathy. Her working experiences took her into the fields of medicine, law, teaching and food services; quite a broad avenue of choices one could say. However, to create this book she has drawn on her experiences of the food industry and education. While working with K12 students, Christine quickly realised that young minds of all sexes, abilities and cultures easily engaged with creative and practical ideas. When involving students to create and make something for themselves and their friends and family they found it to be fun and alluring. Thus, the concept of showing teens of all ages making delectable food and sharing that food with their friends and family was a great way to show important nutritional lessons in life. Making and creating foods based around age and lifestyles of teens was the foundation for this book. Now retired so to speak, Christine has put all those wonderful recipes in this book so that more people, especially teens, can discover the joy of creating awesome food not only for themselves but their friends as well. Ultimately to appreciate the delights of what cooking good food can do for them. So, let’s turn to the book.
The Book
This book is a perfect blend of cooking and baking base recipes; while all can enjoy the simple step by step recipes, it’s mainly for young teens of all backgrounds and abilities to start to explore and enjoy the art of cooking/baking. The author is implying that at times you may want to cook and bake having both sections convenient for you. When you open the book, you’ll quickly realize there is a baking section with useful hints and tips followed by the main cooking section, where a vast array of delightful culinary dishes awaits your attention. The baking section focuses on breads and yummy desserts, but the cooking section with close on two hundred mouth-watering ideas and healthy meals is accompanied by some wonderful untouched photography showing you what your creations will look like. Does it matter if they don’t turn out as you expect them to, no! Each recipe includes suggestions and tips to guide you through making your expectations a positive reaction. It’s the participation and for young adults to socialise and interact with their friends and understand making healthy enjoyable meals can be fun as well as educational. Sitting down with family and friends to share a meal is one of the most gratifying parts of life in general.
